“Hey, Porter!”

Johnny Cash | Listen: Hey Porter

My annual Summer (Sun Records) Rockabilly Fun has inspired me to totally immerse myself in
Classic Country.

It’s all thanks to Johnny Cash, Charlie Feathers and growing up in the 80’s. Way back in early 80’s I clearly remember Dolly PartonKenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, John Denver, Reba McEntire, George Strait… It seemed like they were everywhere. The Dukes of Hazzard theme song, by the legendary Waylon Jennings, has never stopped randomly playing in my Surreal Pop mind.

Charlie Feathers made me bonkers for Rockabilly and appreciate Classic Country music. Charlie Feathers music has a, Come Si Dice*, a certain kind of relaxed, cool essence to it. I love the Rockabilly parts of it as well as the Country flavor in Charlie Feathers songs.

I absolutely love everything Johnny Cash recorded while at Sun Records. This time around, instead of enjoying all the Rockabilly Sun Records has to offer, I felt the need for more Cash after Sun Records, and so far, I truly enjoy what I hear.

The story so far…

Hank Williams • Johnny Cash • Buck Owens • Merle Haggard  • Waylon Jennings • Kris Kristofferson & it keeps on going.

Waylon Jennings | Lyrics

I've always been crazy, and the

trouble that it's put me through

Been busted for things

that I did, and I didn't do

I can't say I'm proud of all

of the things that I've done

But I can say I've never

intentionally hurt anyone

I've always been different

with one foot over the line

Winding up somewhere

one step ahead or behind

It ain't been so easy, but

I guess I shouldn't complain

I've always been crazy, but

it's kept me from going insane

Beautiful lady, are you

sure that you understand

The chances you're taking

loving a free living man?

Are you really sure you

really want what you see?

Be careful of something that's

just what you want it to be

I've always been crazy, but

it's kept me from going insane

Nobody knows if it's something

to bless or to blame

So far I ain't found a rhyme

or a reason to change

I've always been crazy, but

it's kept me from going insane

Duo De Twang

“Listen, let's get down to brass tacks here.”

Primus - Jerry Was A Race Car Driver

I love Rockabilly. I love classic Country.

If you too love that one-of-kind, infectious TWANG, than you should really get your hands on this album:

Les Claypool’s Duo De Twang: Four Foot Shack

From the day that this album was unleashed (February 4, 2014) to this very day, I cannot  get enough of Duo De Twang’s: “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver” & “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver.” It almost feels like you’re reading and enjoying a good book or set of short stories. Les Claypool has a gift for painting a super-imaginative tale with his lyrics. Theses versions possess some kind of natural magical quality. This album along with Charlie FeathersJohnny Cash Sun Records Years ease my mind and regenerate my spirit.

Well, I guess I gotta say: Les Claypool’s Duo De Twang is what I had hoped for so long Buck Satan and the 666 Shooters would of been-could of been. Duo De Twang satisfies all my super-eccentric Twangy needs.
